What If Support Felt Like Belonging?

For many people we support, genuine connection can be the difference between getting through the day and finding reasons to look forward to it. Strong community ties aren’t just comforting. They’re protective. They’re linked to better health outcomes, increased resilience, and stronger recovery pathways.
But connection doesn’t come easily for everyone. Barriers like inaccessible spaces, social stigma, or communication challenges can make it harder to take that first step. That’s why the NDIS places community participation at the centre of what it means to live a full life.
In 2024, around 2 in 5 long-term NDIS participants shared that they felt more connected to their community. That means more people are exploring their passions, building friendships, and finding spaces where they belong.
“Safety is not the absence of threat, it is the presence of connection.” — Dr Gabor Maté
Being surrounded by people who genuinely care allows us to soften. To breathe. To imagine new possibilities. That’s particularly powerful for people navigating trauma, loneliness, or anxiety.
Inclusion shouldn’t be a privilege. It should be part of everyday life.
Australia’s Disability Strategy 2021–2031 affirms this too, placing inclusive, connected communities at the heart of its vision.
When 1 in 6 people with disability report feeling isolated, it's not just a statistic; it's a call to action.
Behind that number are stories of people who want to connect, but haven’t yet found the right doorway in.
That’s where our work begins.

Your Community is waiting. Discover programs, people and support that truly meet you where where you are.
At Choice Community Health, we support people to reconnect. Sometimes with others. Sometimes with culture, creativity, or confidence. Whether it’s through our social activity groups, companionship support, or transport assistance, we meet people where they are.
Sometimes it’s a phone call. Sometimes it’s showing up together to try something new. Always, it’s about making sure the invitation is real and that support feels human.
Our approach doesn’t begin with programs. It begins with people.
Instead of asking, “What’s wrong?” we ask, “What matters to you?”
Support works best when it’s relational, flexible, and grounded in real life. That’s why you’ll find our team in cafés, homes, art studios or community kitchens. We go where people feel most at ease.
If you’re looking to build confidence through mental health support, explore community in new ways, or get started with NDIS access, we’re here to walk alongside you.
Because everyone deserves to belong.
